A not so known waterfall – Koosalli Falls, is a beautiful place to visit on a weekend if you are from Bangalore. An overnight journey in Dakshina Kannada, now the Udupi district. The waterfall is in the middle of rain forest in western ghats. Koosalli falls is in Sharavathi valley and is deep in the jungle.
Koosalli falls is in Sharavathi valley is about 300 km’s from Bangalore and is an overnight journey. Even though the falls is visible from far off, to get to the base or anywhere close to the waterfalls, you need to hike in the forest for about an hour. The few minutes would be in the rubber plantation (private property) followed by entering the forest controlled by Karnataka forest department.

There is a trail all the way to the falls, but the trail may be closed because of thick vegetation. The trail can be exploratory at times as this trail is not so known to outsiders and not too many people visit this place. I would recommend going in a group than going solo.
Few kilometers from Koosalli falls is the stream that continues further where it is safe for you to enjoy the entire day for some water activities. The place is not too deep, so even those who do not know swimming can enjoy. But you need to be careful with the slippery stones. We enjoy for few hours as it was not raining, but the water level increased in no time. In less than 30 minutes the water level increased to double the height and with high current. We could hardly make out the increase in water level. So, be careful if it is raining.
