Leading lines - Ravindra Joisa Photography

Kashmir Great Lakes Trek in the Himalayas

Leading the eye using leading lines is one of the most effective ways to create a powerful composition while considering nature photography. Leading lines is to use visual elements to lead the viewer’s eye into the scene. The leading elements in an image can be lines, curves, zig-zag lines, progression of shapes etc.

Images containing leading lines that stretch from foreground to background are the most powerful, propelling the viewer’s eye into the scene. You are actually playing with the viewer’s imagination. While capturing an image, think as if you are the viewer of that image. How you might look at the image and navigate across. It is nice to have something at the end where the leading lines end.

As you can see in the above images the hiking trail and the road, acts as the leading lines. At the end of the trail are the mountains with a thin line of clouds. Human in this image is kept with an intention, and I will explain about it in another blog post of mine. Please don’t forget to subscribe to my blog.
